Stories from People and Places All Over the World

Hi! I’m Nora, a fairly regular girlie from Sydney, Australia.

I left home in 2018 for my first extended trip alone around Scandinavia. For many lucky ones, gallivanting can quickly become a way of life. Here, you will find a collection of stories and perspectives from different people in different places.

How it Works

Mountains are marvellous. And people are just as rewarding. These memories are partitioned into two general sections: Strangers, and Stamps.

STRANGERS will host a collection of people’s stories around the world, whilst STAMPS will paint a picture of what a destination feels like when you visit.

Strangers

A collection of incredible people I have met along the way.

Highlights

Libya: A Discord Between Turmoil and Tomorrow

Compared to other more touristically popular North Africa countries, Libya had become almost impossible to travel to for decades. Now, the country is on a mission to open itself up again to foreign interest, as the world watches with a healthy blend of hope and caution.

Afghanistan: Taliban at Play

Afghanistan had recently attempted a nationwide blockade of its internet access, on the basis of combating immorality. As rules tighten, the future seems bleak for most, especially women. On the bright side…

Syria: An Uncertain Future

The Levant has experienced some of the most complex, tumultuous periods in modern history. Whilst we may never know what is really happening in this part of the world, one thing is right: they are rebuilding, and life must go on.

Stamps

Only the coolest places around the world.

Highlights

Nepal: Life Between a Divine Rock and a Hard Place

Everyone’s looking out the window on one side of the plane. After all, that’s Mt Everest standing there, majestically, amongst all the other giants, as if any of us could have picked it out if the flight attendants didn’t tell us.

Karachi: Family Isn’t Always Blood

It’s also about who you choose to love.

A story of a soft, scared westerner (me) amongst one of the toughest people in the world.

Bulgaria: A Paradise Worthy of Dionysus

As geographic neighbours, Bulgaria also hosts a handful of interesting Greek myths. One of the cooler stories tells us about Orpheus and Eurydice. You’ve probably heard it before. He was a rousing musician. She was seraphic. They’d fallen in love.
